About Circle of Friends
Simply put, we believe later life should still include friendship, laughter, and the comfort of knowing we are not alone. Our purpose is simple. We bring people together.
Many people who come to us have experienced changes such as bereavement, illness, or reduced mobility. Over time, these changes can shrink social circles and leave people feeling alone or disconnected from everyday life. Circle of Friends CIC creates opportunities for genuine friendships to grow through regular get-togethers, shared activities, and time spent enjoying each other’s company. Being part of a group helps people feel less alone, more confident, and more positive about day-to-day life. Friendship sits at the heart of everything we do, alongside kindness, understanding, and a good sense of humour. We take a gentle, welcoming approach that helps people feel at ease from the start.
Our activities suit different abilities and comfort levels. There is no pressure to join in with everything and no expectation to be a certain way. It is always fine to sit back, take your time, and simply enjoy being there. We know joining a new group can feel daunting, so we make sure people are welcomed properly and supported as they settle in. If it helps, we are always happy to meet members outside a group setting first.
Spending time with others, staying gently active, and having something to look forward to can make a real difference, especially in later life. Circle of Friends CIC is about more than organised activities. It is about building a community where people feel they belong and look out for one another. Friendships often continue outside our sessions, which is one of the best outcomes.
We all need a friend we can call on, and there is a special feeling that comes with being that friend for someone else. We have seen first-hand the difference Circle of Friends CIC makes, through the friendships formed, the confidence people regain, and the moments of joy shared along the way.
